Most people picture Ibiza as an island of beach clubs and late nights. Get on a bike, though, and you discover something completely different: quiet country lanes, pine-covered hills, whitewashed villages and coves you will never reach by car. This guide covers everything you need to know about cycling in Ibiza, from choosing the right bike and the best routes to the ideal time of year and practical tips for your ride.
We have been guiding cyclists around the island since 2010, so everything here comes from first-hand experience.
Why Ibiza is made for cycling
The island is only about 40 km long, and its highest point, Sa Talaia, reaches 475 metres. That means you can see a lot in a single day, while the rolling hills keep every ride interesting. Coastal roads alternate with a peaceful interior, and almost every climb ends with a sea view.
The mild climate, especially in spring and autumn, lets you ride when it is too cold or wet back home.
Choosing your bike
- E-bike: the easiest way to explore. The motor helps on the climbs, so you cover more ground and arrive fresh. Great for couples, families and mixed groups. We ride Cannondale e-bikes only.
E-Bike Tours - Comfort e-bike: a relaxed ride through villages and along the coast around Santa Eulària, with no technical sections.
Comfort E-Bike Tour - Mountain bike: dirt tracks, pine forests and more singletrack than you would expect.
Mountain Bike Tours - Road bike: quiet tarmac, scenic climbs and little traffic outside peak season.
Road Bike Tours - Gravel bike: a mix of tarmac and wide gravel roads through the countryside. For technical singletrack, an MTB or e-bike is the better choice.

Guided tour or ride on your own?
With a guide, you can simply enjoy the ride. We know the tracks that are not on any map, the best viewpoints and the perfect stops for coffee or lunch. Tours start from different places on the island, depending on the route. Most of our tours are private and go at your group’s pace. Sometimes we also run open group rides that solo cyclists can join. Our tours last 2, 4 or 5 hours.
On your own works too. Ibiza has official signposted mountain bike and road routes, and Eric wrote the original roadbook for them. Many signs have since disappeared, so download the GPX tracks before you set off.

Practical tips
- Helmet: in Spain a helmet is required outside built-up areas. You can rent one from us for €2 a day.
- Water and sun: carry plenty of water and wear sunscreen, even when it is cloudy.
- Start early: mornings are cooler and the roads are quieter.
- Traffic: Spanish law requires cars to keep 1.5 metres when overtaking cyclists. On narrow roads, ride in single file.
- Rain: light rain is no reason to cancel a tour. If the weather turns really bad, we will find a solution together.
