At Bike Ibiza, we regularly get questions from our guests: What’s really worth seeing on the island? Which beaches are ideal to rest the legs after a bike tour? Where do you eat well? In this guide, we give you a detailed overview of the three regions of Ibiza, with the most beautiful beaches and best restaurants in each area.
Ibiza is divided into three main areas: the North/East with San Juan, San Carlos and Santa Eularia, the South with Ibiza Town, Playa den Bossa and San José, and the West Coast with San Antonio. Each area is completely different, but equally enchanting.
The Quiet North and East of Ibiza
Santa Eularia is the third largest town on the island and a popular destination for those seeking relaxation, nature and sports. You won’t find many party-goers here — it is, however, a haven for couples, families and cyclists looking for peace and quiet.
Hippy Markets in Ibiza
Ibiza is world-famous for its authentic hippy markets, and the north is the best base for these.
Every Wednesday, the Punta Arabi market takes place — the largest market on the island, where you can wander for hours among colourful stalls filled with clothing, jewellery and souvenirs.
The Las Dalias market is, moreover, the most atmospheric of all: beautiful stalls, unique articles and often live music. The Saturday market is open all year round and in high season on some evenings too. A must for cyclists taking a rest day. → Las Dalias
In addition, in the small village of San Joan, a relaxed hippy market takes place on Sunday mornings on the central square — chilled atmosphere, live music and lots of local visitors.
The Most Beautiful Beaches in the North of Ibiza
Cala Benirras is the legendary hippy beach in the north. Every Sunday evening, musicians play djembes as the sun sinks into the sea — a long-standing tradition you cannot miss. There are several eateries right on the beach.
Aguas Blancas is furthermore a hidden gem: a small sandy beach surrounded by stunning rock formations. Get there via San Carlos, a picturesque village with one of the best ice cream parlours in Spain.

Spectacular Sunsets on the West Coast of Ibiza
San Antonio is the second largest town on the island, world-famous for its breathtaking sunsets along the Sunset Strip, home to iconic spots such as Café del Mar and Café Mambo. Although the town centre is busy in summer, the west coast of Ibiza offers some of the most stunning beaches on the island.
Best Beaches on the West Coast
Cala Comte is an absolute top favourite — and for good reason. The water is ice-blue and crystal clear, framed by sandstone rocks. Enjoy a cocktail at Sunset Ashram as the sun beautifully sinks into the sea. → Sunset Ashram
Cala Bassa is another gorgeous bay with clear water and wide views over San Antonio. Much of the beach is taken up by the Cala Bassa Beach Club — not cheap, but a day of pure indulgence. Don’t miss their sangria de cava. → Cala Bassa Beach Club

The South Coast of Ibiza: History, Nature and Gastronomy
Ibiza Town
The old town of Ibiza, Dalt Vila, is a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Wander through the narrow winding alleys and enjoy the panoramic views from the top of the walled city — a must for every visitor to the island.
The vibrant harbour district La Marina is perfect for a stroll along luxury yachts, followed by cocktails at one of the many bars in the evening.
Culinary tips in Ibiza Town:
- Plaza del Parque – A cosy, typical plaza in the heart of town, just behind the Vara de Rey. Perfect for people-watching from one of the many terraces.
- The Croissant Show – Iconic French-style bistro at the entrance to the old town, great for breakfast, lunch, dessert or evening people-watching. → Croissant Show
- Kaixo Ibiza – Tapas restaurant with a Basque twist, tucked away in a narrow alley. Excellent value for money. → Kaixo
San José
San José is a quiet and authentic village in the south, ideal as a starting point for cycling routes to stunning beaches such as Cala Jondal, Sa Caleta (with impressive red rocks) and the iconic Cala D’Hort.
Cala D’Hort is arguably Ibiza’s most famous beach, largely because of the views over Es Vedrà — the mystical rock just off the coast. A walk to the pirate tower gives you an even more spectacular view of this magical landscape. At sunset, this is therefore one of the most beautiful spots on the island.
